Per minute is the metric that matters at volume
Per-second rates sound trivially small — $0.10 here, $0.25 there. Multiply by 60 and the strategy becomes visible: a minute of Gen-4.5 costs $15.00 while a minute of Gen-4 Turbo costs $3.00 on the very same platform. At channel scale (say, 10 minutes of generated footage per month), that's the difference between $150.00 and $30.00 monthly.
Three rules for cheap minutes
- Draft low, render high. Iterate prompts on a $0.04–0.05/s tier, then re-run only approved shots on the premium tier. This cuts iteration cost by up to 90%.
- Buy audio separately. Native-audio models charge for sound in every take — including the failed ones. Voiceover tools bill once.
- Match tier to shot. Nobody notices B-roll resolution; everybody notices a glitched hero shot. Spend accordingly.
